The Garden Epiphany.

Why am I so scared to start over?

Once upon a time, I believed that starting over equalled failure.

And believe me, the fear of failure has always plagued me. I've avoided even the possibility of failure like, well... the plague.

A little over a year ago, my business was far from the dream I'd always pictured myself living. I woke up every day showing up as someone else — someone who didn't look or act like me. Yet the idea of starting again and pivoting made me feel like I was choking on a cocktail laced with anxiety.

I felt trapped. My authenticity was muted, my creativity stifled, and my so-called "brand" wasn't aligned with who I was. I was doing the inner work, but my business was still enabling my old self. Deep down, I knew I was being called to create something greater, but I resisted because it meant (you guessed it) trying again and starting over. Shivers.

On a crisp spring morning, I was sitting in my favourite spot in my garden, listening to the birds singing. In the middle of a daydream about my entrapment, a realisation hit me — my journey isn't just about me.

I know what you're thinking: "Alana, your own journey isn't about YOU?" Hard to believe, I know. But it's true.

That single thought began to shift everything. It's hard to explain the change that suddenly sparked in my brain, sometimes these things can't be explained, but I saw the bigger picture. I saw that every step I take, every stumble, and every victory is a thread woven into a larger story.

What does rebranding really mean?

I started to warm to the idea of starting over. I was realising that trying again didn't mean failure — it meant freedom. I began to see that starting again and showing up authentically within my business wasn't just for my benefit; it was for the people I would inspire, help, and uplift along the way.

I learned to see myself as part of a greater plan and found the courage to begin again, rebuilding my brand from the inside out. I trusted that trying again and starting from scratch would bring abundance and prosperity in every way, shape, and form — and I was right.

Fast forward to now: I'm confident in myself and my impact, I'm living my truth, and I'm building unwavering connections with the dream clients I always wanted but never attracted. The shift wasn't just strategic; it was spiritual. We can get so caught up in life, thinking that we're the main or only character, but one of the most valuable and beautiful things is knowing we're part of something bigger than ourselves.

Creating a spiritual brand

As a business owner, entrepreneur, or soulpreneur, you probably think of branding as logos, fonts, or colour palettes — but the truth is, your story and your essence are the most important elements when it comes to forming a brand.

Your dream clients are drawn not just to the work you do, but to the human behind the work. When you take off the mask and show up unapologetically as yourself, your brand becomes a bridge of connection between you and your kindred audience. As a brand strategist, I see this unfold every day: the most powerful brands are not built on perfection or hidden behind a logo, but on truth.

So, if you're trapped in the four walls of your own prison, heart pounding, wondering if you have the courage to break free, take this as your divine sign.

The terror you feel is simply proof that your soul is ready for liberation. Starting over is not imprisonment, and it certainly isn’t failure; it is the ultimate jailbreak — a declaration of your right to exist fully, a reclamation of your voice, and an act of service to the people waiting for what only the real you can offer. The world doesn't need another mask; it needs the whole, real, brilliant you.

Don’t be afraid to begin again. Your story is far from over; in fact, the most beautiful chapter is just beginning.
